İngilizce - İngilizce
A statement of intent, a vow

My resolution is to cut back on the fast food this year.

The act of discerning detail
The degree of fineness of such a separation
The degree of fineness with which an image can be recorded or produced, often expressed as the number of pixels per unit of length (typically an inch)

Printing at higher resolution will cause a reduction in performance.

The moment in which the conflict ends and the outcome of the action is clear
Progression from dissonance to consonance; a chord to which such progression is made
The number of pixels in an image being stored or displayed

This monitor's maximum resolution is 1600x1200.

A strong will, determination
The separation of the constituent parts (of a spectrum etc)
A formal statement adopted by an assembly
The state of being resolute

His stalwart resolution is perhaps admirable, perhaps foolish.

{n} determination, courage, dissolution, performance of a problem
The resolution of an A/D or D/A converter is the number of steps the range of the converter is divided into The resolution is usually expressed as bits (n) and the number of steps is 2n (2 to the power n), so a converter with a 12-bit resolution divides its range into 212 or 4096 steps In this case a 0-10 volt range will be resolved to 0 25 millivolts
analysis into clear-cut components a formal expression by a meeting; agreed to by a vote (music) a dissonant chord is followed by a consonant chord the subsidence of swelling or others signs of inflammation (especially in a lung) (computer science) the number of pixels per square inch on a computer-generated display; the greater the resolution, the better the picture
Resolving power, or the quantitative measure of the ability of an optical instrument to produce separable images of different points on an object; the capability of making distinguishable the individual parts of an object, closely adjacent images, or sources of light
The fineness of an output device, nearly always measured in dpi (dots per inch) Resolutions quoted for screens are usually notional, in that the value differs from the true number of pixels per inch Many screens can be set to various different settings (e g 800 by 600, 1024 by 768, 1600 by 1200), while the system treats them all as having the same dpi Some standard resolutions: - The Macintosh screen is taken to be 72 dpi; - The PC's VGA screen resolution is notionally 96 dpi; - Fax resolution is 100 or 200 dpi; - Most early laser printers were 300 dpi; - Good current laser printers are usually 600 dpi, occasionally 1200 dpi; - Imagesetter resolution for high quality printing is 2400 or 2540 dpi (100 dots/mm)
That which is resolved or determined; a settled purpose; determination
The number of dots per inch (dpi) that were stored during scanning The greater the number, the greater the amount of detail that is visible It is recommended that you use between 72 and 100 dpi for images that will de displayed on the screen, and 300 dpi for images that will print on common inexpensive printers Higher resolution images take up more space as well
(music) a dissonant chord is followed by a consonant chord
The number of dots or screen pixels used to create an image The more dots, the higher the resolution, the better the image Higher resolutions increase file sizes
The act, operation, or process of resolving
finding a solution to a problem
The accuracy at which the location and shape of map features can be depicted for a given map scale For example, at a map scale of 1: 63,360 (1 inch=1 mile), it is difficult to represent areas smaller than 1/10 of a mile wide or 1/10 of a mile in length because they are only 1/10-inch wide or long on the map In a larger scale map, there is less reduction, so feature resolution more closely matches real world features As map scale decreases, resolution also diminishes because feature boundaries must be smoothed, simplified, or not shown at all 6 The size of the smallest feature that can be represented in a surface 6 The number of points in x and y in a grid (e g , the resolution of a USGS one-degree DEM is 1 201 x 1 201 mesh points) 2
The resolution of an image is how clear the image is. Now this machine gives us such high resolution that we can see very small specks of calcium
Indicates the number of dots, often measured in dpi, that make up an image on a screen or printer The larger the number of dots, and thus the higher the resolution, the finer and smoother images can appear when displayed at a given size Low resolution causes jagged characters The ideal resolution is a trade-off between quality and the overhead in storage power and processing strength required to use it
(1) (n ) The number of pixels in the horizontal and vertical dimensions of a display, considering the size of the display, and thus the size of the pixels (2) (n ) The number of elements per unit length available for display or printing by a particular device For example, 1200 dots per inch is considered excellent print resolution
An indication of the sharpness of images on a printout or the display screen It is based on the number and density of the pixels used The more pixels used in an image, the more detail can be seen and the higher the image's resolution
finding a solution to a problem a decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner; "he always wrote down his New Year's resolutions"
Action, in the form of a formal legislative document, taken by the Senate alone, the House of Representatives alone, or both the Senate and House acting jointly A resolution does not change statutory or constitutional law and is not approved or otherwise acted upon by the Governor (and thus is not a law) The effect of a typical resolution is merely to express the opinion of one or both houses or to take some action short of enacting a law that is within the province of one or both houses Also, a resolution is typically temporary in character Some resolutions do have legal effect, such as those relating to recommendations of the Compensation Review Board, school mandate waivers, and the authorization of toll highways
The number of pixels used to display an image onto the computer screen, expressed as Pixels Horizontally x Pixles Vertically Also used to refer to the DPI of a printer or scanner
analysis into clear-cut components
The amount of small detail visible in an image; low resolution shows only large features, high resolution shows many small details
{i} decisiveness, determination; (Computer Graphics) level of detail on a computerized image (measured in dots per inch); level of detail provided by a television or computer screen (Electronics)
(b) The act of analyzing a complex notion, or solving a vexed question or difficult problem
a formal expression by a meeting; agreed to by a vote
a decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner; "he always wrote down his New Year's resolutions"
The act or process of solving; solution; as, the resolution of an equation or problem
Specifically: (a) The act of separating a compound into its elements or component parts
Resolution refers to the number of pixels (individual points of colour) contained on a display monitor The number is expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis The sharpness of the image on a screen depends on both the resolution and the size of the monitor The same pixel resolution will gradually lose sharpness as monitor size increases because the same number of pixels are now being spread over a larger physical area Resolution is similar to DPI except that DPI is more typically used in regards to printed output
Resolution is determination to do something or not do something. `I think I'll try a hypnotist,' I said with sudden resolution
The state of being resolved or firm in opinion or thought; conviction; assurance
The fineness of detail attained by a printer or a monitor in producing an image For printers that form characters from small, closely spaced dots, resolution is measured in dots per inch, or dpi, and ranges from about 125 dpi for low-quality dot-matrix printers to about 600 dpi for some laser and ink-jet printers (typesetting equipment can print at resolutions of over 1,000 dpi) For a video display, the number of pixels is determined by the graphics mode and video adapter, but the size of the display depends on the size and adjustment of the monitor; hence the resolution of a video display is taken as the total number of pixels displayed horizontally and vertically
the subsidence of swelling or others signs of inflammation (especially in a lung)
The number of pixels (individual points of color) contained on a display monitor, expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis The sharpness of the image on a display depends on the resolution and the size of the monitor The same resolution will be sharper on a smaller monitor and gradually lose sharpness on larger monitors because the same number of pixels are being spread out over a larger area
The ability of a telescope to show detail Also known as resolving power One common way to describe the resolution of a telescope is to state the minimum angular separation at which a double star, whose two components are fairly bright and have very nearly the same brightness, can be distinguished as two separate stars
Images measured in terms of pixels dots per inch or other linear measure The higher the number of pixels, the higher the resolution
The resolution of a problem or difficulty is the final solving of it. the successful resolution of a dispute involving UN inspectors in Baghdad
The passing of a dissonant into a consonant chord by the rising or falling of the note which makes the discord
the trait of being resolute; firmness of purpose; "his resoluteness carried him through the battle"; "it was his unshakeable resolution to finish the work"
Spatial resolution is normally expressed as the number of pixels per linear unit e g 300ppi (pixels per inch), sometimes dpi (dots per inch) or spi (samples per inch) For colour resolution see Bit Depth
is an indication of digital image quality, which in turn is determined by the number of pixels The higher the resolution, the better the image will look A low-resolution digital image (at 640 x 480 pixels), for instance, may look great when displayed on the Internet but it can appear fuzzy when printed or enlarged By comparison, high-resolution images, such as those at 1,280 x 1,024 pixels, contain enough pictorial information (sharp contrasts, rich colors, and picture details) to look good on the Internet as well as when printed or enlarged
(computer science) the number of pixels per square inch on a computer-generated display; the greater the resolution, the better the picture
The ability to show fine detail accurately Resolution on computer monitors is generally listed according to the total number of horizontal and vertical pixels The higher the number, the higher the resolution A high-resolution monitor will show a slanted line accurately A monitor with low resolution might show the same line as a series of stair steps See VGA Printer resolution is generally indicated in dots per inch Most modern laser and inkjet printers are capable of 1200 dpi, but normally operate aat 600 dpi
A resolution is a formal decision taken at a meeting by means of a vote. He replied that the UN had passed two major resolutions calling for a complete withdrawal
finding a solution to a problem a decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner; "he always wrote down his New Year's resolutions" analysis into clear-cut components a formal expression by a meeting; agreed to by a vote (music) a dissonant chord is followed by a consonant chord the subsidence of swelling or others signs of inflammation (especially in a lung) (computer science) the number of pixels per square inch on a computer-generated display; the greater the resolution, the better the picture
The state of being relaxed; relaxation
The number of pixels in an image that are stored or displayed
Specifically: A formal expression of the opinion or will of an official body or a public assembly, adopted by vote; as, a legislative resolution; the resolutions of a public meeting
something settled or resolved; the outcome of decision making; "the finally reached a settlement with the union"; "they never did achieve a final resolution of their differences"; "he needed to grieve before he could achieve a sense of closure"
a statement that solves a problem or explains how to solve the problem; "they were trying to find a peaceful solution"; "the answers were in the back of the book"; "he computed the result to four decimal places"
A statement of intent, a vow (often New Years resolution)
A breaking up, disappearance; or termination, as of a fever, a tumor, or the like
The degree of sharpness of a printed or displayed image, often expressed in dpi( dots per inch) Resolution depends on the number of elements that make up the image, either dots on a laser or pixels on a monitor; the higher the number per inch, the higher the resolution of the image appears
If you make a resolution, you decide to try very hard to do something. They made a resolution to lose all the weight gained during the Christmas period. see also New Year's resolution
the ability of a microscope or telescope to measure the angular separation of images that are close together
{i} ruling, decision; solution, answer; analysis, breakdown
The amount of detail visible in any display or copy Most computer system output devices produce images from a matrix of small dots Resolution then depends on the size and number of dots per unit length or area
n 1 The fineness of detail attained by a printer or a monitor in producing an image For printers that form characters from small, closely spaced dots, resolution is measured in dots per inch, or dpi, and ranges from about 125 dpi for low–quality dot–matrix printers to about 600 dpi for some laser and ink–jet printers (typesetting equipment can print at resolutions of over 1000 dpi) For a video display, the number of pixels is determined by the graphics mode and video adapter, but the size of the display depends on the size and adjustment of the monitor; hence the resolution of a video display is taken as the total number of pixels displayed horizontally and vertically See also high resolution, low resolution 2 The process of translation between a domain name address and an IP address
Resolution refers to the number of pixels (individual points of color) contained on a display monitor The number is expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis The sharpness of the image on a screen depends on both the resolution and the size of the monitor The same pixel resolution will gradually lose sharpness as monitor size increases because the same number of pixels are now being spread over a larger physical area Resolution is similar to DPI except that DPI is more typically used in regards to printed output
The number of pixels (in both height and width) making up an image The more pixels in an image, the higher the resolution, and the higher the resolution of an image, the greater its clarity and definition (and the larger the file size) Resolution can also refer to the output device, such as a computer monitor or printer, used to display the image Image file resolution is often expressed as a ratio (such as 640x480 pixels), as is monitor resolution; however, resolution is also expressed in terms of dots per inch (dpi) The asssumed universal monitor resolution for web users is 72 dpi Image file resolution and output (print or display) resolution combine to influence the clarity of a digital image when it is viewed
